Best Place to Tan

             It’s bad for you, it can kill you, and it can ruin or darken your appearance.  This is a sentiment heard often from others when it comes to indoor tanning.

            However, whether one agrees or disagrees, indoor tanning has become a popular trend, especially among college students.

            RA Tanning of 141 Winchester street in Keene, New Hampshire, was voted the best tanning salon in the entire city of Keene.  Just over a year ago, this salon was brought to Keene by owner Geordie Fifield.

            According to Fifield, his tanning salon business started in April 2006 in Florida, an eventually merged its way to Keene.

            “I am honored to win the best tanning salon in Keene, New Hampshire after being open only a year and I would like to thank all the customers that voted, and have enjoyed being part of our salon,” Fifield said.

            One of the unique things about RA Tanning is that it is filled with all new tanning technology.

            Customer Emily Hanson said she voted RA as best tanning salon because of it’s unique equipment.

            “RA is the only tanning salon that has spray tanning, and this allows for safer indoor tanning,” Hanson said.

            Hanson also claimed, “All of the tanning beds at RA are brand new, and you get a very clean feeling when you walk into that salon.”

            Current worker Dayna Despostio said she feels privileged being able to work at such a great salon with such a friendly staff and clean environment.

            Fifield claimed RA’s clientele is not just Keene State College students, but members from the area as well.

            “It’s about 60 percent college students and about 40 percent of our customers live in a 20 mile radius,” Fifield said.

            Furthermore, Ra Tanning plans to add new accommodations to its salon in the near future.

            “Starting in August 2010, we will add two additional stand up booths in the front of our salon, along with a beverage bar offering RA bean coffees, smoothies and ice teas,” Fifield said.

            Although indoor tanning does not appeal to everyone, consider the safe way to darken your skin with spray tanning, which is offered at RA.
