And it all ends with a wink

At the end of every episode of "Adventures of Superman," starring George Reeves, Clark Kent would end every episode by saying something implying that he wasn't Superman to either Lois, Jimmy or Perry White. After the comment, Clark would wink to the camera, breaking the fourth wall connecting with the audience. Superman also winked to the reader in the last panel of "Action Comics" issue 583- the final part of the last Silver Age Superman story.
Some people have come up to me and asked, "Why did you write about comic books?" Well, when I began reading this paper there was nothing that interested me in the Arts and Entertainment section. How many times can you read a review of a local band or art movie that nobody even heard of before? So I figured that I might as well write about something that I enjoy and know a lot about- comic books. I also thought "I mustn't be the only person on campus that reads comic books, so there has to be a market for comic book articles."
Not that I had anything to do with it, but look at how popular the medium of comic books has become since I began writing about them. When I wrote my first comic book based article back in 2005 about the "Batman Begins" DVD, the medium was just beginning to grow. Now, it seems you can't turn around without seeing or reading something comic book related. Talk about progress.
While I still can, I would like to thank a few people. First, I would like to thank my Arts and Entertainment editors Sean Connor, Amy Howard, Josh Bond and Brian McElhiney for publishing my articles week after week.
I would like to thank my dad for helping me out with articles when I needed some background information on certain authors or artists.
I would also like to thank Andrea Olcsvary at Warner Brothers Studios. If it was not for her reading my article on why they should make a "Superman Returns" sequel over a Justice League of America movie, I would not have my online internship at Warner Brothers Studios.
Even though they did not have the best opinion of me, I would also like to thank Newsarama.com. More specifically, I want to thank Kevin Munroe for posting two of my articles in their blog section last year. Whether he intended to or not, he helped make my article on the top five worst comic books ever the most read article over the summer of 2007 on Keeneequinox.com. Your criticism helped me become a better writer.
But most importantly, I would like to thank all of my loyal readers. If it were not for you guys, there would not be a "Keith: Comic Crusader" column in the Equinox.
And since I figured that this is my last article, I might as well end it with a wink. 'Nuff said.

If thanking people constitutes a column this guy is a winner. If one reaeds this and hopes to learn something or be entertained, don't bother.
